     On the 6 December, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited the Embassy of South Africa in Moscow, where he extended his sincere condolences on behalf of the Russian people and the Russian Government in connection with the death of Nelson Mandela, a great man, a prominent statesperson on a worldwide scale.

   Sergey Lavrov wrote a message in the Book of Condolence having emphasised that the entire life of Nelson Mandela was devoted to the fight for the freedom of his country and for every South African, but that his main weapon was his spiritual strength, power of persuasion and high morals. He also extended his sympathy to Nelson Mandela’s family and friends, and to all the South African people
