On May 4, the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Chad published the official results of the presidential elections that took place there on April 10. The incumbent president, Idriss Déby Itno, won the elections with 59.92 per cent of the vote.

The observers of the African Union and the Economic Community of Central African States recognised the validity of the elections. They did not register any serious violations that could have affected the results of the voting.

Moscow welcomes Chad’s successful holding of peaceful and transparent elections, which became a landmark in the democratic development of that friendly country.
