On March 20, the second round of the presidential election took place in the Republic of Benin. According to preliminary reports from the National Electoral Commission, the contest was won by prominent businessman Patrice Talon with over 65 percent of the vote.
International observers, including those from the African Union, have recognised the election as transparent and honest. There have been no serious violations that would affect the outcome of the poll.
