The 2015 National Orders Awards Ceremony was held at Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria on 8 December 2015. The President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma awarded retired Russian diplomats Vladimir Kazimirov and Andrey Urnov with Order of the Companions of OR Tambo in Silver for their contribution to the liberation movements in Southern Africa.

Vladimir Kazimirov was the USSR Ambassador to Angola in 1987-1990. He participated actively in the Joint Commission on South-West Africa and in the resolution of the Namibian and Angolan conflicts.

Andrey Urnov was the USSR and Russia’s Ambassador to Namibia in 1990-1994 and one of the most vociferous critics of apartheid South Africa in the 1980-s while heading the African section in International Department of the Central Committee of the USSR Communist Party.

The Order of the Companions of OR Tambo is a National South African Order awarded to eminent foreign nationals for their assistance in rge liberation movement, contribution  to enhancing cooperation with and friendship shown to South Africa and friendship shown to.
